When we consider that most of Margaret's life is time off, I guess you can take that with a grain of salt, but nevertheless, it's a solid burn. As Thatcher packs up and drives off, Diana arrives, shifting the tone in the castle considerably. To draw an Aqua-Net-inspired metaphor, Diana allows herself to accept the goings-on at Balmoral and let that wind blow through her hair on a stag hunt. Thatcher is unable to allow for even one thing to be out of step, one hair to be out of place, even while on vacation. "A place for everything / And everything in its place. " Thatcher may have failed miserably in the eyes of the royals, but the weekend away was a moment of clarity for her. After her aggressive new fiscal policies were publicly scorned by members of her own cabinet, she returned to London to eliminate anyone who comes from that old, stodgy era, any of the "patronizing bullies" who stand in her way. She goes on to fire three cabinet members who were most critical of her agenda, and pointedly tells the Queen at their weekly meeting that she replaced these men because they lacked grit, as a result of their privilege.

Durante gran parte de este segundo capítulo he tenido una enorme sensación de desconcierto, de no saber qué estaba viendo exactamente. Nadie explica dónde se encuentra la acción, qué están haciendo exactamente cada uno de los grupos ni en qué momento nos encontramos. Y esto, disculparme, es importante saberlo porque ya han jugado con nosotros mostrándonos flash-backs y flash-forwards con bastante frecuencia (como en el capítulo pasado). Al final, el episodio parece que no tiene nada de esto. Va de corrido y nos muestra la continuación exacta del ataque a Los Salvadores que vimos la semana pasada. Tras el ataque al Santuario, los supervivientes de las tres comunidades siguen asaltando posiciones de sus enemigos, divididos en tres grandes grupos. Pero seguimos sin entender esos planos cortos de los protagonistas, que nos muestran sus caras de cerca en cada una de sus escenas, entendemos que intentando darle un toque poético a todo esto. Esos planos, mezclados por la total falta de explicación de lo que estamos viendo, ha ayudado mucho a mi sensación de desconcierto inicial (y casi total durante todo el capítulo).

"L'iniziazione" - and try saying that title three times fast - is allegedly a softcore, erotic flick, which is actually based on a pornographic novel by the poet Guillaume Apollinaire. What's funny is that there's no real attempt at eroticism in the movie. There is some nudity, but it's incidental, and never shot to arouse or even be the focus of the shot. There's also no sex. Characters have sex, yes, but the action cuts to afterwards, so we don't get to see. The main character also isn't particularly likeable. He's a prop, like any male character in a porno film, there to have sex. But since the movie has no sex, he just wanders haplessly through it. The movie's only real source of life or interest is the beautiful Virginie Ledoyen, here in her film debut at only nine years old. She lights up the camera. The movie should have been shot through her eyes.

This ultimately makes him adopt the persona of the Joker, one of Gotham's most well-known villains. Joker is far from feel-good, but it's an intriguing exploration of mental illness peppered with bloody scenes and thought-provoking sequences. Not to mention the fact that Joaquin Phoenix is incredible in the lead role, offering a complex and riveting performance. All in all, this is one origin story you don't want to miss.
