When it comes to manga about a highschool girl there are certain expectations. This meets those expectations. In the story, an honors student girl secretly wants romance and secretly reads fairy tale romances and watches romantic movies. When a celebrity movie star comes to film at her school, a series of chance meetings has him perhaps wanting to have a fling/flirt with her or perhaps falling for her. I was pleasantly surprised by this. Each chunk of the story is predictable in the broad sense, but has unpredictable surprises in the details. The hot guy actor is tremendously blunt and makes lewd comments about women's butts or busts out and says he's gonna go take a poop or whatever, although he seems to be actually an OK person. The writing is better than the art, which is very unusual for manga. Art is normal, and not worse or better than I'd expect. In general, it's realistic with cartoony single frames for a single character to show a strong emotion. Writing is pretty good, and I'd read a volume 2 if I saw it at the library.

Hinana witnesses him peeping on her classmates, accidentally flashes him, and gets a thumbs up from him. She ends up meeting him at an arcade where he wins a pantie-flash cheerleader figure and asks if she wants to touch her glorious buns. She's so dumbfounded she bursts into laughter because she had the wrong image of him. He's just a normal dude. From there, this volume does what most shojo doesn't: expresses interest in her and they actually start dating. I won't spoil anything else but it's such a relief to find a series where the heroine sees something she doesn't like and walks away from it. She has her own goals and values herself. The love interest has his quirks but he still is really swoon-worthy and a perfect lead. Definitely getting the rest of this series. Sure, it's pretty stereotypical in terms of hot guy takes interest in ordinary girl outta no where, but that simple premise is to be expected at this point. This story, has a very refreshing twist in characters, I feel: our Ordinary Girl is Hinana Hanazawa, a diligent high-school girl who appears to take things very seriously. Her life is a constant routine, and she has a surprisingly good head on her shoulders. Her dream, however, is to have a fairy-tale romance, much of the likes to Cinderella. Problem is that she's never been in love and she's far to embarrassed about her want to have a fairy-tale romance with a hottie to admit it, even to the point of realizing how shallow and juvenile it is, so she keeps it under wraps by secretly reading romance novels and seeing romantic movies alone. Mr. Perfect of this manga is Kaede Ayase, a model/movie-star gone rogue from his band Funny Bone for reasons yet to be revealed. Kaede, all around, appears to be the perfect man. Attractive, famous, and gentlemanly.
